A reflection on the musealisation of performance.
Since the beginning of the 21st century, performance has increasingly occupied museum spaces, a sign of a process of historicisation and institutionalisation of the medium that has involved both the live and documentary aspects. This paper analyses the phenomenon of the musealisation of performance, examining recent case studies from some of the major museums in the United States (Museum of Modern Art, New York; Guggenheim; Whitney Museum of American Art).
