A collective portrait, a blurred and out-of-focus photograph of the Italian art system today and the image it projects to the outside world.
Through an approach that weaves together sociological analysis and aesthetic criticism, this volume explores how the Italian art system is perceived beyond national borders, in an era marked by the proliferation of images and continuous technological innovation.
Divided into two sections and twelve chapters, the essay brings together contributions from forty-two experts, who were asked simple questions designed to spark a dialogue rich in insights, connections and digressions. The author thus presents the results of his research in a book conceived as a critical tool for navigating the myriad manifestations of the contemporary world and, at the same time, for rediscovering the value and distinctiveness of the Italian perspective on the international scene.
