Tangled memories that intertwine and blur with dreams, with a masterful directing technique
In Long Day’s Journey into the Night (China 2018, 148″), Gan Bi creates a night diary made up of darkness, travels, surprises, life but also death, words, comings and goings, love and hatred, intertwined quests and times, truths and lies. An interweaving of memories and dreams, nightmares and even imaginary bestiaries.
The exhibition Diario Notturno. Di sogni, incubi e bestiari immaginari is ‘a long journey into the night’ in countless ways. The night of time, which goes from prehistory to the language of the future; the night of space, which overcomes the boundaries of the finite to tend towards infinity; the night of our planet, which turns from green to brown and then black; the night of childhood with its individual durations, which Ludwig (work featured in the exhibition by Diego Marcon) says he wants to divest; the night of mutations, of transits; the night of the unconscious, which sends us dreams and nightmares, memories and desires. Everyone knows their darkest night, or their brightest. For everyone there is a night diary.
