A journey through the history of performance art, from the 70s to today.
Performance art is a radical aesthetic act of self-representation and self-analysis that attempts to weave a link between the self and the world, representing the processes of historical-social change that modulate subjectivity under construction. Teresa Macrì’s talk will focus on the performance art practices that dematerialise the art object, using the body as a metaphor for the world. Her talk will also examine the research carried out by Judy Chicago, Adrian Piper, James Lee Byars, Tino Sehgal and Cesare Viel, from the 1970s to the present day.
