international festivalPERFORMATIVE 02
The second edition of MAXXI L’Aquila’s performance art, dance, theatre and music international festival.
Four days of complete immersion, from morning until late at night, featuring art, dance, theatre, music events and performances.
PERFORMATIVE 02 – in the wake of a tradition of great artists who have worked in Abruzzo, in particular Joseph Beuys and Fabio Mauri – aims to create an urban laboratory and trigger new relationships, activate creative processes and experimentation in the social fabric of the city.
From MAXXI L’Aquila to the Academy of Fine Arts of L’Aquila, from the Palazzetto dei Nobili till Fontecchio, the festival comes alive throughout the city and beyond, involving artists, performers, and professionals of national and international importance. New productions will intersperse with performances that have already obtained important international recognition, with a view to activating a new reflection on current events, in particular the impact of new technologies in our daily lives.
Andrea Belfi, Jacopo Benassi and Lady Maru, Chiara Bersani, Madison Bycroft, Francesco Cavaliere, Alex Cecchetti, Giulia Crispiani, Alessandra Cristiani, Dame Area, Jonathas de Andrade, Michela de Mattei, Roberto Fassone, Muta Imago, Jacopo Jenna, Sofia Jernberg, Dan Lippel, Violaine Lochu, Salvo Lombardo, Miltos Manetas, Beatrice Marchi & The Friends, Susan Philipsz, ØKAPI, Mette Rasmussen, Rodion, Cory Smythe, Ilaria Turba, Ole Morten Vågan.

The talks program, on the other hand, traces the history and different forms of performance through the stories of critics, curators, art historians, including Maria D’Alesio, Tommaso Pincio, Simone Ciglia and Cloe Piccoli.
A part of the programme of PERFORMATIVE 02 is dedicated to the live actions of students of the Academy of Fine Arts of L’Aquila.
