Between the physical and digital worlds: artist Miltos Manetas meets the public to discuss the FLOATING STUDIO project
On the occasion of the exhibition In itinere, Miltos Manetas talks about the work he conceived for the Museum consisting of a site-specific painting, made with an impermanent painting technique, and his virtual study in the space of the Metaverso. The physical work in the space of MAXXI L’Aquila is seen by the artist as a “portal” to his virtual studio, where the visitor navigates on a reflective surface and interacts with Manetas’ work.

Bartolomeo Pietromarchi Director MAXXI L’Aquila
Miltos Manetas is an artist of Greek origin who lives and works in Bogota, Rome, New York and Athens. Since the 1990s he has been exploring the representation and aesthetics of digital culture by painting cables, joysticks, computers, consoles, video games and subjects engaged in activities linked to the most common electronic tools, depicting “man in his modern habitat”. His approach, which combines Internet art and relational aesthetics, is collaborative, performative, in constant progress and reflects the fluidity of virtual and physical spaces and the vision of the Internet as a real place.
