Selma is a Czech immigrant and a single mother working in a factory in rural America. She harbours a sad secret: she is losing her eyesight and her son Gene is in danger of suffering the same fate if she cannot save up enough money to secure him an operation. Selma’s salvation is her passion for music and Hollywood musicals’ dancing. But when a desperate neighbour falsely accuses Selma of stealing his savings, the drama in her life gets worse.
