slideshow in project room
curated by Lélia Wanick Salgado
Salgado’s impressive photographs are combined with the concrete sounds of the forest: the rustling of the trees, the cries of the animals, the singing of the birds or the roar of the waters coming down from the mountain tops, collected on-site, make up a soundscape, created by Jean-Michel Jarre.
A slideshow – also featured in the in Rome (1 October 2021 – 13 February 2022) – displays images of places where the forest has suffered almost no damage and invites us to see, hear and reflect on the ecological situation and the relationship that people have with it today.
From the words of Sebastião Salgado and Lélia Wanick Salgado:
This exhibition results from seven years of human experience and photographic expeditions carried out by land, water and air. It explores a largely unknown region of the Amazon which, with the culture and ingenuity of its inhabitants and the mystery, power and unparalleled beauty of its nature, has never ceased to teach and amaze us.
