Fifteen years after the tragic event of the L’Aquila earthquake, a tribute to the wound left to the city and a wish for rebirth and hope

The artist recounts the great void left by the tragic event of the L’Aquila earthquake, exactly one thousand nights and one day later, to pay tribute to the wounded city. Casolaro chooses to shoot the film on New Year’s Eve: a night of balance sheets, good intentions and renewed hope. According to the artist’s thinking, poetry is the only thing we have left after destruction, ruin, and defeat: poetry is the material from which to begin rebuilding hope. Therefore, he concludes the video by wishing for rebirth: “Rebuild L’Aquila, for those who have been left in darkness since April 6, 2009. And for all those who, since then, have come into the light.”
