From Plato to big data: philosophy can help us not only to better understand the present, but also to reinvent it.
In times of crisis and transformation such as the one we are currently experiencing, philosophy can help us answer the most urgent questions. We just have to ask questions. This is exactly what the philosophers and writers Andrea Colamedici and Maura Gancitano, creators of the Tlon project, are doing. By linking our present with Athens in the 5th century BC, they are questioning the thinkers of the classical age – and not only – on the issues of contemporary debate.
According to the authors, just as Socrates and Plato saw writing replace orality and witnessed the demise of the mythical world, so today we are faced with the advance of the digital age, which is once again revolutionising communication, language and social structures, heralding the dawn of new gods.
