From the baroque textures of Domenico Scarlatti to the 20th-century visions of Vladislav Zolotaryov, a journey through eras and musical languages united by the expressive power of the accordion.

The programme opens with one of the most captivating works from his vast body of harpsichord music, paying tribute to the Baroque genius of Domenico Scarlatti, who was able to alternate moments of introspective contemplation with bursts of lively energy, through a masterful use of dynamic contrasts and unexpected harmonies. The highlight of the evening is the music of Vladislav Zolotaryov, an extraordinary and tragic figure in 20th-century bayan music. Despite his death at the age of just 33, he left behind a body of work that was fundamental to the evolution of the accordion, making him an essential point of reference even today.

Viacheslav Semionov presents a fantasia based on a song by Jan Frenkel, imbued with the colour of Russian folk music and an evocative sense of nostalgia. Johann Sebastian Bach is represented by an early work for organ, which finds an ideal medium in the accordion thanks to its ability to sustain polyphony with a continuous sound and dynamic nuance.

Rounding off the programme is Bent Lorentzen, one of the leading figures in contemporary Danish music, whose work spans the avant-garde, electronic music and refined instrumental composition. Tears, published by Edition Wilhelm Hansen, is one of his most frequently performed works for solo accordion – a deeply evocative piece that successfully bridges modernity and profound expressive humanity.
